Let’s not talk about the 3.5 hr flight that took 7 hours, or how hot a plane can get sitting on the tarmac, or the lost, then found luggage.
Milwaukee welcomed us in fine style.
Our inaugural event was called Red White and Brew. The festival grounds were open just for us and we had a really long red carpet welcome. The walk of flags was cool, passing by all the state’s flags. Security was done by Secret Service and TSA agents who went through every single item in every single bag. The freeway overpass that overlooks the grounds was closed to traffic, and there were snipers on the roofs.
I’m telling you that because several people have expressed concerns about our safety, and I would say the security is reassuring.
Our money was no good at the festival, as the staff served small plates on demand. The short ribs were outstanding. Any type of drink you wanted was available, even water. Entertainment included everything from a polka band to a great cover band named Gen Z if my memory serves. Clay and Buck emcee’d the main stage. We really appreciated the friendly volunteers who were everywhere in their green shirts making us feel welcome, and helping us navigate the grounds.
Trace Adkins gave an amazing concert for over an hour. People started heading for the exits as a gentle rain fell and fireworks were decorating the sky. The rain felt good after a hot and sticky evening and no one rushed to get on the bus.
First thing this morning we met lawyers from the Trump team who brought the official documents nominating President Trump. Nebraska is one of five states chosen to sign the legal documents. We did so and received a commemorative Delegate ribbon.
I can’t take my iPad to the convention, so updates may be a bit delayed. The last photo is the view from our front row seats I am told. We are soon catching the bus to the big show. Rumor has it the Vice President will be announced today. The roll call of states is tonight, so check your steaming service or channels to learn where you can watch us represent our big beautiful state.
